BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Get ready to hit the links in a couple of weeks, as the annual Junior Golf Championship hosted by the City of Bowling Green and Warren County is right around the corner.
The event tees off July 16th, with boys competing at CrossWinds Golf Course, and girls playing at the Paul Walker Golf Course.
Kids ages 12-18 are invited to participate, and the best part is that entry is completely free.
Sheriff Brett Hightower says it’s not about raising money, it’s about getting young people excited about the game.
“It’s all about getting kids involved in outdoor sports, activities and trying to get some kids who might not normally be involved with golfing into that. Whether it’s starting off and just learning how to putt and then as they progress and get a little bit older, they get a little bit more involved where they can then start playing golf,” Hightower said.
The girls tournament tees off at 7:30 A.M., while the boys tee off at 8:15 A.M..
Top scores for the boys will play a 9-hole championship at Paul Walker in the afternoon.
As for the girls, a championship will be decided by sudden death playoff if there’s a tie.
Divisions are 12-14 years, 15-16 years, and 17-18 years.
